Important clarification first
Membership is not required to use AstraLabel or AstraTrace.
Both platforms are commercially available under standard subscription contracts, independently of membership status. If your organisation is evaluating AstraLabel or AstraTrace, membership does not need to be part of that conversation — and we will never suggest otherwise.
Membership is an option for organisations where the discount and governance value makes commercial and strategic sense. For some organisations it is straightforwardly financially efficient. For others, the governance participation is the primary reason. The right answer depends on your organisation.

Governance that is substantive, not ceremonial
AstraLabel Committee
Platform roadmap review. Input on new country integrations, regulatory format updates, and ePI standard evolution. Quarterly sessions. Member organisations propose agenda items.
AstraTrace Committee
Supply chain intelligence roadmap. EPCIS standard evolution. Network expansion priorities — which new participants (health authorities, distributors) to add. Quarterly sessions.
Technical Committee
Open-source platform development priorities. API standards. Hyperledger Fabric governance. Interoperability with other systems. Members include technical leads from Top-20 pharma.
Who membership is not for
We will tell you if it does not make sense for your organisation.
Technology and standards organisations without a direct AstraLabel or AstraTrace use case will find that PLA's committees have limited relevance to their work. PLA's governance forums are platform governance forums — their value is tied to the operational experience of using the platform.
If your organisation is evaluating membership primarily as a standards participation vehicle, without a commercial relationship with AstraLabel or AstraTrace, we will tell you clearly that Membership is probably not the right vehicle — and save us both the time.
